In 2021, the KK Collection added a further property to their portfolio when they took over the management of The Villa Bentota. Remodelled by lauded Lankan architect Geoffrey Bawa in the 1970s, the Mohotti Walauwe, as it was then known, was a grand colonial ancestral home turned boutique hotel just south of West Coast Bentota. It remains one of Sri Lanka’s most historic properties associated with Bawa.
Under the KK Collection, The Villa Bentota was sensitively modernized to be transformed into one of the finest boutique hotels and villas in Bentota. Rooms have a fresh feel thanks to pastel hues, delicate Indian fabrics, and luxurious linen. Open spaces are adorned with colourful art by local artists (all available for purchase), there are two swimming pools and two distinct dining outlets alongside extensive garden and beachfront dining. Bentota’s idyllic southern beach is directly accessible beyond a sandy, palm-fringed path.
